Age Limit for Constable:
Applicable candidate should have between 18 to 38 years as on 1st January of 2020 (i.e. the candidate must be born on or before 01.01.2002 and on or after 01.01.1982). Upper age limits as given below,
- 5 (five) years in respect of candidates belonging to SC, ST(P) and ST(H)
- 3 (three) years in respect of candidates belonging to OBC/MOBC.
Educational Qualification for Constable:

Selection Process for Constable :
Physical Standard Test:
After the documents are found correct, the candidates will have to appear in the PST (Physical Standard Test). It will carry no marks. Measurement of the height, weight of all the candidates and chest of only male candidates will be done using latest technology and after which the candidates will be examined by a Medical Officer for preliminary check-up like knock knee, vision test, colour blindness test, flat foot, varicose vein, physical deformities etc. If any candidate is found to have any physical deformity as may be detected by the Medical Officer present in the Selection Committee, he/ she will be debarred from participating in the other tests. Once a candidate clears the PST, he/she will have to appear in the PET (Physical Efficiency Test).
Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
Candidates who clear PST will be required to undergo PET. The PET consists of the following: The Physical Efficiency Test will carry 40 marks.
Written Test:
Written test will consist of 100 multiple choice type questions to be answered on an OMR answer sheet. For each correct answer the candidate will get half a mark. Questions will be of the level of class IX and X. Total marks for the Written Test will be 50.
There will be no negative marking.
The subjects to be covered will be as follows:
- Elementary Arithmetic
- General English
- Logical reasoning/ Mental ability
- Assam’s History, Geography, Polity, Economy
- General Awareness/General Knowledge and current affairs b) Written Test will be conducted throughout the State on same day in each district.
